Work for us

If you’re passionate about making a difference and want to be part of a friendly organisation that genuinely cares about its community, you’ll feel right at home at The Union. Explore our opportunities and discover how you can help shape life at Manchester Met.

Who are we?

At The Union, we’re here for one purpose: to represent, support, and empower every one of Manchester Met’s 44,000+ students. As an independent charity with roots dating back to the 1920s, we’ve grown into a vibrant, student focused organisation shaped by a century of advocacy, community building, and positive change.

Students sit at the heart of everything we do. Each year, a team of elected Student Officers works closely with our dedicated staff to deliver services, opportunities, events, and support that help students thrive academically, socially, and personally. We’re proud of the role we play in shaping the student experience and championing student voice.

As an employer, The Union is a place where people feel valued, supported, and able to grow. Our team describes the workplace as fun, fast paced, collaborative, and full of purpose. We offer a wide range of staff benefits and wellbeing initiatives, generous leave, learning and development opportunities, and a culture built on inclusivity and care, because looking after our people helps us look after students.

Thank you for taking an interest in joining The Union. We’re a dynamic, modern, and values‑led organisation that puts people at the heart of every decision we make. Guided by a clear strategy and a strong sense of direction, we’re committed to creating positive change for our students.

At The Union, we’re proud of the culture we’ve built — one that champions inclusivity, supports personal and professional growth, and encourages everyone to bring their ideas and passion to the table. We believe we’re a great organisation to work for because we invest in people, celebrate individuality, and create opportunities for you to make a real and lasting impact.

If you’re looking for a place where your work truly matters and where you can help shape the future for students at Manchester Met, we’d love to welcome you to our team.
