Whilst Black History Month is traditionally honoured in October, here at The Union we want to continue celebrating Black excellence and provide opportunities to show our support and the talent of our students all year round.
Weāll always encourage our students to pursue their passions and champion their creative outlets, whatever they may be! Thatās why this month weāre hosting a student-led art exhibition, honouring the theme of this year's Black History Month - āSaluting Our Sistersā.
This exhibition comes after the success of last years āBlack Canvas Exhibitionā. Two of our Manchester Met students, Luka and Mia, took part in this last year and wanted to continue this form of artistic celebration this year.
This event will immerse you into a Black culture through its unique art pieces, demonstrating Black joy and focusing on the experiences of Black women.
Join us for the exhibition launch this Monday 27 November, 16:00 - 18:00 - thereāll be plenty of food, music, art and an overall uplifting and positive atmosphere. But, donāt worry if you canāt make it, the exhibition will be up and available to view until Wednesday 29 November, so be sure to come and check it out.
Check out what Luka and Mia had to say about the exhibition - make sure to stop by to see their hard work in action, admire some beautiful art, and show your support.
